The Hawke's Bay Art Trail returns this November with two weekends of Art Trail magic! Throughout the region artists are throwing open the doors of their studios to welcome you in - meet painters, potters, sculptors, carvers and more in their special spaces.
Hawke's Bay is home to exceptional creative talent - this is your unique chance to meet well-known artists and to discover emerging talent. Hear what inspires them, watch them work, discover their stories and look for that special piece to take home.
Immerse yourself in all-things-art and create a self-guided trail enjoying open studios, demonstrations, shared spaces, art groups, gallery visits, public art tours and more. Recharge at our Food & Art stop along the way.

Visit Hastings Community Arts Centre or The CAN in Napier to grab a Trail Map and a Guide and start your weekend. Each gallery features stunning exhibitions and our team will help you plan your weekend.

Look out for our Food & Art stop Hygge at Clifton to enjoy delicious food and beverages, meet an artist and enjoy the café's own beautiful collection of art, crafts and homewares. Relax and recharge before setting off on the next part of your Trail.

In a special event coinciding with his show at Muse, artist Josh Lancaster will have his studio set up in the front window of the gallery for the duration of the Trail. Come and meet the artist and hear the stories behind his iconic local landscapes. If you're out and about at night look out for Josh painting in the gallery window.

Nau mai hara mai ki tētahi wānanga toi mā tō whānau! Come along to a fun guided drawing session for parents, carers, and tamariki at the Gallery with artist-in-residence and kaiako Heidi Brickell. The session will suit learners and speakers of te reo Māori of different levels. Please note the guided activity is designed for ages 7 and up, however there will be other activities on hand to keep younger ones occupied! Free, no booking required.
2 Nov. 11am Panel Discussion: Navigating the Art World
A panel discussion on navigating the art world as an artist in Aotearoa. This event features established figures from Aotearoa’s contemporary art sector who will share their insights, experiences and advice covering key topics such as gallery representation, building networks and the importance of local engagement. STRETCH AND THE SINNERS AT CREATIVE ARTS NAPIER
8 Nov. 7 - 9pm, 16 Byron St, Napier (doors open 6.30pm), tickets via Eventfinda.
Stretch and The Sinners bring rich, textured soundscapes to life with acoustic and electric guitars, brooding basslines, echoing drums, and soaring cello. Having played to sold out audiences across the country, head-lined shows at Church Road and Hawke’s Bay Opera House, performed for crowds of 25,000 at Mission Estate and opened for such greats as Neil Finn, Wilco, Angus & Julia Stone, Damien Rice and Elton John... Stretch has continued to create a singular space in Aotearoa, as a truly independent artist.
Performing in the intimate setting of the main gallery of Creative Arts Napier, this will be a chance to witness one of NZ's most original and captivating bands up close. VERY limited tickets available for this space!
